Sensei Joseph S. Harrison
Originally from Battle Creek, Michigan, Sensei Joe Harrison started his training at an early age with his father in western boxing, and then moved on to learn, study and complete his black belts in traditional systems such as Karate, TaeKwonDo, Hapkido and Judo.
Mr. Harrison has over 25 years experience in more than 18 different systems in the world and has trained with and befriended some of the most prominent names in the martial arts today, including but not limited to, Guro Dan Inosanto, Sifu Richard Bustillo, Eric E. Smith, Ray Dionaldo, Master Fred Lazo, Kru Ray Cole, Raffy Pambuan, Felix Cortez, Ajarn Chai Sirisute, Louis Krudo, and many more!
In 1993 he discovered his long time instructor, Eric E Smith, and began training in Muay Thai, Judo, JiuJitsu, Jeet Kune Do, Doce Pares Escrima, Kali, and Wing Chun. Since then he has honorably achieved his 4th degree black belt under Sensei Smith and continues to study with him to this day.
In 1998 he relocated to Clearwater, Florida and began training at the Jeet Kune Do Academy-Tampa. In 1999 he met and began training with Tuhon Ray Dionaldo, Founder of the Filipino Combat Systems. In 2008 he earned his full Instructorship in FCS Kali/Arnis/Escrima and FCS Silat.

A Privileged Career
From 1996 until 2016 he held a well-respected and highly rewarding
career as a men’s and women’s gymnastics coach influencing, guiding and training more than 10,000 gymnasts and athletes of all ages over his entire 20 year career. In 2008, after dominating the Men’s Junior Olympic Circuit for Florida and undefeated for 2 straight years, as well as producing champions in the Region 8 USAG Championships, Mr Harrison received the honorable USAG State of Florida Gymnastics Coach of the Year Award under State of Florida Gymnastics Director, John Hallet and Dean Dryer, USAG-Judges Association President. Even though he officially retired in 2016, Mr. Harrison cherishes each and every child, moment and experience he had over his 20 year journey through “the hardest sport in the world”
Mr. Harrison owns and operates HARRISON MARTIAL ARTS, LLC in Clearwater, Florida where he continues his vast studies of martial arts, education and teaching, as well as traveling and sharing his knowledge to many others along the way.
